Oilcats to get cheered on
the Aberdeen Oilcats Flag Football Club will have plenty of support when they take on the Inverness Rockets this weekend.
The Oilcats will be joined at the Sheddocksley Fields on Sunday by the Sharon Gill School of Dance, introducing cheerleaders to the game.
Head Coach, Dave Ironside, said: “The dance school have a great reputation in cheerleading, winning many competitions, they also provide the Reds and Co. cheerleading squad to Aberdeen FC and we thought it would be a mutual benefit to join forces.
“We wanted to add a bit of colour to our sidelines this season and the cheerleaders do just that, they have written specific cheers for the club and I thank their coach, Angela, for a lot of work in a short period of time, it is a great experience for the girls and hopefully we will give them something to cheer about.”
Sunday’s game against the Rockets will be the Oilcats’ second game of the season and they are hoping to grab their first win.
Ironside said: “We lost our first game of the season to Grangemouth and the Rockets will be a real test for us if we are going to follow up last year’s great season. I will be looking to our International squad members, Lewis Cameron, Adam Ingram and Neil Shepherd to get us back on track but it will be difficult because Inverness are a well-coached side with good players.
The game against the Inverness Rockets will take place on Sunday, June 12 and has a 1pm kick off.
