Hi guys,
I was speaking to Dave Paulin from Inverness (Highland Wildcats) last night and he was saying that they are really desperate for players for their Senior Kitted team this season and was wandering if any of us would be able to help them out.
Now, they realise that it would be difficult for any of us to travel up to Inverness on a regular basis, so what they are proposing is that, once a month, they would hold a training session in somewhere like Elgin or Lossiemouth that we could attend. On the other weeks, we could potentially work on stuff here in Aberdeen, either as part of our usual flag training or at a seperate time (this would depend on numbers, coaching staff and equipment availability).
Likewise, for anyone who would be interested in coaching kitted, there would be opportunities for you to get involved and the Wildcats would help you get on one of the forthcoming coaching courses.
I should clarify at this point that the Oilcats and Flag Football will remain our priority, therefore I will ensure that there is still flag training every Sunday as usual (including the ones when there is kitted training with the Wildcats) for those who do not wish to travel/play kitted and I will do my best to ensure that fixtures are arranged in such a way that it allows for people to play both Flag for us and Kitted for Inverness.
Let me know what you think. The guys from Inverness are a great bunch of guys who helped us out a LOT when we were starting out, so it would be good if we could help them out here if it's feasible. Also, it will give us the opportunity to gain kitted experience (both playing, coaching and administration wise) for if and when we look at setting up our own kitted team (something that could potentially happen very soon). It also may lead to further opportunities to link up with Inverness and the Wildcats in the future.
Anyways, let me know what you think..Be honest, if you think it wouldn't work then say so, likewise if you think it's a great idea then say so too!
If you are interested please let me know asap so that I can let Inverness know how many people are up for it.
Also, if you have any questions please feel free to ask and I'll do my best to either answer them or find out the answer!
Cheers,
Mike
