Looks like Tom Brady is done for the season.Looks like Mat Cassel is going to be the starter for the rest of the season.Reminds me of the situation in season 36 when Bledsoe went down and a back up called Tom Brady came in and the rest is history. But being realistic thats it.Looks like another top 10 draft pick.Such is the lot of a Patriot fan.Annoying it seems to be all over after week 1,but the plus point is i can enjoy the season without expecting anything from the Patriots. Ok calm down, yes Brady is the key to the Patriots Offense, but what about their defense. Surely Cassel can find his receivers even if it takes a couple of weeks to get used to it, but you know your defense will keep you in games. And your running game isnt exactly crap either! Its not all over after week one...take it from a dolphins fan, its over before the season starts!!!!!!

Mab eye the running game is good ,but if ppl like Randy Moss start mouthing off etc and stop being team players things will start to fragment. Not sure about our secondary.Need to get Ben Watson fit that would be a help. Also some teams have different goals from other teams before the start of the season and you know i have followed the Patriots ever since i took an interest in the nfl and will always follow the Patriots. This season is going to be like the post Brady era for the Patriots.Brady is now 31 and nobody plays for ever i reckon he could retire about 35 or it could be sooner depending how this injury affects him.I just dont want the Patriots to go back to the 1-15 bad old days.I would still follow the team like i always have but i wouldn't want that to happen.

You've got to remember they still won the game on Sunday, plus their defense made a pretty impressive stand to ensure they did so. So it's not all doom and gloom. Had they lost Brady and gotten completely walked over then I can see why you might worry, but the fact is they still found a way to win the game. Ok so they didn't paste the other team like the did last year, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter how you win, as long as you do.
On top of that, there's gonna be a lot of players on that team looking to prove that their success isn't all down to Brady, so it could actually spur the team on.

Patriots defense has big holes especially at cornerback since Samuel took Phillthys money, they have an aging front seven as well.
Brady going down hurths the Pats badly and I totally undersatnd what you are saying Scott, Cassell cant make the throws that Brady does, but the NFL is all about parity, the Pats cant stat atop of the mountain for ever, they ....as all teams have to rebuild. Brady will have another 6 or 7 years in him....the question is, will he still be as mobile after a serious injury

At the end of the day, this is still a Bill Belichick-coached football team. Tom Brady isn't the reason why the Patriots have won so many SBs - Belichick is. There are very few people in any sport that are as good at their job as Belichick is. These include Sir Alex Ferguson at Man U, Walter Smith at Govan Utd (or something ) and guys like Jim Johnson at Philly. Belichick is so good at looking at what a team does well, and then taking that away from them. The fact that he now has a (relatively) unproven QB instead one of the best of all time means he will just need to reverse his O mentality. Despite it's age, the Pats D is still one of the best in the NFL. Unless they are on the field for long periods of time (against the better opponents) you won't have a problem there. Pats are also masters of the 'underneath' routes - with a fit Wes Welker and Ben Watson, you won't need Cassel to throw the kinda passes Brady does. It's possible that the speed of Moss won't be used as much as with Brady - but he's still gonna get passes and TDs. So you might not be in as a much trouble as you think. Remember that even when Eagles lost McNabb - Jeff Garcia stepped up and still got us into the playoffs. I don't know if Cassel is at Garcia's level, but you've got so many weapons on and off the field that even losing Brady won't prevent you getting at least 2 games into playoffs.
