thought I'd add this thread after seeing this article. I did not see this one coming!
Eagles acquire LB Spikes from Bills
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- The Philadelphia Eagles acquired Pro Bowl linebacker Takeo Spikes and quarterback Kelly Holcomb from the Buffalo Bills on Monday night for defensive tackle Darwin Walker and a conditional draft pick in 2008.

I thought it woulda been alright to bung this one in free agency, but that is quite a big trade.

it addresses 2 key areas; 3rd string QB and an experienced LB who can get the job done. (someone who may actually know what 'stop the run' actually means ) I'm now running out of ideas about our draft picks. Think we'll be adding some depth at CB and maybe look for a power RB (cos there's a few who should go on first day) apart from that, I can't see a position that we haven't addressed this off season. If this is what happens in March, what's September gonna be like

Latest RUMOUR (and i state rumour at the moment) is that Tampa Bay have offered Oakland their #4, #35, #64 PLUS Chris Simms for Oaklands #1 pick Also rumopured is that Oakland will pick up Culpepper IF Miami cuts him

Why do they desperately want the No. 1 pick?

Mabeye they want to draft Brady Quinn which would make the Browns unhappy who i think want to draft him.

They could draft whoever they want, but if they are trading Chris Simms, and Gradkowski doesnt exactly look like the wave of the future, a QB does look likely to be what they are after.

Take it Mr. Davis! Take it Mr. Davis! Please take it Mr Davis!!!! Tampa want Calvin Johnson, they have Garcia and maybe Plummer at QB so are set there for the moment. Detriot are likely to take Joe Thomas (although they could be tempted by Russell if he's still available. But this gives us a great chance of being able to take Brady Quinn (who I think suits us better) and get draft picks thrown into the bargain. However, if Tampa take Russell and someone else were to take Quinn before the Raiders, that would be three QB's that we've been after that they've gotten this off-season! Lol Mikey

Oakland are maybe looking at Gaines Adams the DE out of Clemson which they possibly could get at #4 if they stay with the first pick they would be crazy if they didnt go for Russell.....no point in drafting a WR like Calvin Johnson id you aint got a QB to throw him the ball

Actually, I'm having a bit of a re-think here, because moving down to #4 means we'll be walking a tight-rope with our chances of getting one of the "Big Three" (i.e. Russell, Johnson and Quinn). I like Johnson, and I'd be happy for us to trade him, but like Dave said we need a QB to get the ball to him, if there's a trade to be done that means we can get a QB and Johnson then that would be good. We get Simms in the Tampa trade, however, are they moving up to take Johnson or are they moving up to take Russell. There's no doubting that Russell is a very good QB, however, I still prefer Quinn and think he would be a better fit for the Raiders. But if we're drafting at #1, it's gonna be very hard for the Raiders to pass on Russel. You might be right about Gaines Adams though Dave. Derrick Burgess is on a possible holdout at the moment so DE could become a problem area. Plus, if Burgess can renegotiate his deal with the Raiders to one that he's happier with then we'd have two beasts at DE. However, needs must, and right now we need to sort out the offense, our defense was good last year, but we need to improve the offense. Mikey

I have been telling Scotty for 3 months that Randy would land up with the Patriots, and he has always said it was impossible. I even predicted it to him before training today. A 4th round pick is a steal for the Pats, but at least the Raiduhs get rid of the cap space and the attitude. Ian
