Gary has grounds to support them though. I on the other hand, will not be supporting them. As stated on the TDC forums, its the media that gets on my t*ts. If it wasn't for them, then England wouldn't be so detestable!

I agree with Stu, if the media we're so up there arses about there own team, and how Rooney will win the world cup for them etc, then i may watch them and think come on England, but the fact the media and like that, just puts me right off!
I also know that if England won the world cup...we'd never hear the end of it!

I also know that if England won the world cup...we'd never hear the end of it! Unfotunatly we are too late for that. JUst means that they'd go on and on about winning it twice instead of just '66.

And the only thing we can take from the world cup, is the best ever goal scored by a home player, was score by Scotland's Archie Gemil in the 78 World Cup against Holand! (Geek my has the whole game on DVD, tis a good watch!)

What a great way to start the competition eh?! Some absolute wonder goals in the game! I reckon that ball will be talked about a fair bit during the course of this competition.

But wit there shabby defence in a not too bad league they may go on to play England in the next stage , england would probably have htem no problem with their talent of feeding through balls so meansx we would have to deal with the news?!?!?!? ...good game tho lol

Aye, well the ball was already talked about by the Real Madrid team about 2 months ago, who tried it out! And both Casilles and Sanchez said it had a lot of movement in it, but it was no different to the Nike Balls used in La Liga and the Premiership!

the main reason it has more movement than most is simply cos it's lighter, this means you don't need to strike it as hard for it to shoot off, and equally for any spin to take affect. Everyone who's every kicked one of those plastic footballs you get on holiday, the movement you get seems to defy physics.
Besides, even tho goalkeepers complain it, the fact is, keepers have gotten better every time one of these changes has been made. There was heaps of fuss about the France 98 ball as it was lighter than before, but people soon got used to it.
don't forget after '66 who was the first team to beat England? I'll be supporting England, just won't be blubbing when they get gubbed by Germany, Brazil or Argentina. Mind you, they'd be lucky to get past TnT on Thursday ;D

What makes you say that? Do we know who they are up against in the next round at all? ***** POSSIBLE SPOILER ******* And congrats to Ghana for gettin through to the next round! They have the pleasure of facing.... Brazil in the next round Apparently they have to do it without Essien aswell but I thought that cards were voided for the 2nd stage?

Cards are voided after the group stages, so if a player picks up two in any of the group games he'll be suspended, but if he only has one from the group stages it'll be wiped. I got confused to start with too when teams were resting all their players in their final group games, then realised they could still get suspended. Well done to Ghana, though I'm gutted Czech Republic went out!! I had them down for making the semis! Not sure about Italy, had them down for going out at the group stages, not sure how far they'll get, though they'll now face Australia, Croatia or Japan in the next stage, so they'd be favoured to progress there I'm guessing..But who knows with football! Argentina Vs Brazil's the final I've been predicting since just before the tournament started and I'm sticking to it! Hehe Mikey
