One word fan-bloody-tastic!!! Sailor were on first and did a not too shabby set for a band with limited singles success...........The Rubettes were next up and again they played a tight set with a tremendous multi drum set in the middle. After the break it was the band that most of the crowd were here to see....from the opening bars of Hellraiser to the final crash of Ballroom Blitz I never sat down, never stoped singin along with the rest of the crowd. Hit followed hit with Tony O'Hora making you think Brian Connelly was reincarnated!! I saw them the last time in Aberdeen two years ago but this was much much better.they worked the crowd and nailed the songs perfectly and an inpromtu tribute to Tucker and Connelly with "Fanfare for the Common Man" All in all a fantastic night.....my voice is gone and my hands are sore.......but I cant wait for them to come back

Ahhhhhhhh Glam.......memories of flares, platforms, feather cuts and massive take me home collars come flooding back.
As for the bands, Sweet , Slade, Mott The Hoople, Glitter Band (Gary as well before his computer adventures!!), T-Rex, Bowie, Queen (nae quite full on Glam but close), Wizzard, Mud (RIP Les), Cockney Rebel, Slik (pre Live Aid Midge Ure), Suzy Quatro (hubba hubba!!).....even Showaddywaddy and The Rubettes.
Shame when Brian left Sweet that differences couldnt be overcome...but they were at least talking about a reform when Brian sadly died..........Slade went off to conquer the US and when they returned punk rokkas had conqured the UK.........Mott folded when Ian Hunter hit the drink, The Glitterband continued after Gary went solo, and still continue as Gary dodges the law in Thailand!!, but they were ugly buggers just put together to make Gary look good!!, T-Rex were brilliant ...but the group was jinxed, Bowie is still a legend, Queen were the biggest band in the world for a time till Fred passed away, Wizzard had a string of hits then vanished when Roy Wood went solo, as for Mud....Les Gray kept the band going until he too passed away, Cockney Rebel were a poor mans Queen but still good, Slik......dodgy haircuts and baseball shirts.....but more street cred than the Rollers (just).....and Suzy Quatro..........man she STILL looks good in leather even now!!
Opinions Gordon??..............and dinna say you werent a Slade fan cos I just aint haeing that!!
