Notification to all interested, especially you Scottie
Rules day has now been confirmed for Saturday the 18th of September and will be held at Forthbank in Stirling along side the SDS training. Rules day is scheduled to start at 1pm.
Who Should Attend?
If you are a nominated official for your club then you should make every effort to attend. If the nominated official for your club cannot attend then someone else fromt he club should make every effort to attend.
Aims for the day?
The primary aim for the day is to discuss several clarifications to the rules so that all clubs and officials know how certain situations will be officiated on and so that the decisions made by officials are consistent with the rest of the league. Whilst we wont actuall be making any changes to the rules as such (as we are led by EFAF on the actual definition on these) it's important that we clarify the interpretation and application of these rules for our league. The keyword here is most definately consistency!
Another aim for the day is to discuss the development of new officials and i will be presenting a possible development plan for discussion on the day so that amendments and suggestions to it can be included before it is submitted to the committe for their undying approval As part of this I also hope to suggest changes to be made to the "booking" of officials for games to prevent the problems experienced by several teams this year.
And finally we'll also discuss any other "Official" related business that may happen to come up
What WONT we be doing at rules day
It wont be a training or development day for officials nor will it be an exam or test for existing officials.
Hmmm doesnt sound like rules day is for me then...
Well if your a nominated official for your club, even if you are not an experienced offical, it will be your job to communicate the clarifications made at rules day back to your club.
So 1 last time....who should attend?
In an ideal world every nominated offical should attend however i am aware that this will not happen due to other committments. What I would hope is that every club is represented at rules day so that there can be no complaints about information not being communicated back to the clubs. If your nominated official cannot make it (or if you do not have a nominated official) then i would appreciate someone else from the club attending.
OK i got it...so what now?
Well now all you have to do is confirm your attendance and what club you will be representing to myself and optionally outline any points you would like to bring up regarding rule clarifications or perhaps another "officials" related topic on the day itself for inclusion on the agenda.
The deadline for submitting topics is Wednesday 15th September, after which i will post the Agenda here for everyone to see.
Please send confimation of attendance and any agenda points to jmyles@blueyonder.co.uk
